Transitioning leadership and ownership to the next generation is the biggest challenge privately held firms in the A/E/C and environmental consulting industries will face. Some will succeed, but many will not. Success requires identifying future leaders early in their careers, helping them to develop the necessary skills, engaging them in the future of the firm, and having an ownership transition structure that encourages and rewards investment in the company. This exciting new workshop will cover both the cultural and financial side of transition planning.

The workshop will be led by Bob Kelleher, CEO of The Employee Engagement Group and acclaimed author and expert on employee engagement and workplace practices (and A/E industry expert). Joining him will be Ian Rusk, Managing Principal of ROG+Partners, one of the A/E industries leading experts on stock valuation and transitioning ownership within privately held firms. Participants will learn:

  • bob&ian2An overview of the A/E industry and the unique challenges of transition planning
  • The cultural and workforce dynamics at play in today’s post recessionary times (Do you know– “who’s sinking your boat?”)
  • The vastly different motivational drivers of Baby Boomers, Generation X and Generation Y (the millennials)
  • How to identify and engage your future leaders and owners
  • Strategies for getting your future leaders to think like owners
  • Identifying the perfect ownership model for your firm
  • Making your company’s stock the best investment in your portfolio
  • Succession planning best practices – so you can turn over leadership and ownership with confidence
  • The role of M&A’s in building a leadership pipeline
