Michael O’Brien has more than twenty years of corporate financial advisory experience. Michael worked with more than 700 different companies across many industries providing business valuation, fairness and solvency opinions, mergers and acquisitions, internal ownership transition consulting, ESOPs, and strategic planning. For more than ten years Michael has been dedicated to assisting firms in the architecture, engineering and environmental consulting industry.

Michael’s experience includes conducting business valuations/appraisals for a variety of purposes, including complex fairness and solvency opinions, litigation support, establishment and maintenance of employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) and general management purposes. He has worked on many comprehensive ownership transition planning efforts for clients with as few as 20 employees and firms with over 1,000 employees.

He has extensive merger and acquisition experience, having assisted clients in acquiring firms or selling their firm. These services include initial strategic planning, researching the pool of potential candidates, initiating discussions between parties, assisting with due diligence, and advising clients during the negotiation process right through to the closing.

Michael has provided expert witness testimony in California Section 2000 cases, shareholder dissolutions cases in other states, testified in both state and federal court cases.

Michael received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Cornell University Johnson Graduate School of Management and Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Real Estate from California State University, Northridge. He is a professionally trained and accredited business appraiser and holds the Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation with the American Society of Appraisers.
